Every
summer, hundreds of sites across New York City provide free meals
to children ages 18 and under. This summer there will be over 1,000
sites throughout the five boroughs, which will operate every weekday
from June 28th through August 31st.
These
sites do not require children to present identification or parents to
fill out any forms – children just need to show up to eat!
Despite
the lack of paperwork or other requirements, only a portion of eligible
children have participated during past summers. Why? Some families
simply do not know that Summer Meals sites exist, or how to find
them. Thankfully, finding out about Summer Meals locations is now
easier than ever!
Starting on June 27th, New Yorkers can find their nearest site by either calling 311, texting the word NYCMeals to 877-877, or online.
Help us spread the word about how to find Summer Meals locations!
Please tell your friends and colleagues, post this information on your
website and Facebook page, and tweet about it.
With
your help, more families can learn about this vital program and greater
numbers of children can benefit from Summer Meals all summer long!
Sincerely,
Jennifer March-Joly
